my name is corissa. i am 22 years old. i have a wondeful fiance of 2 years. we will be getting married eventually. we have 3 kids all together. i am stepmom to 2 little girls and i have a little boy of my own. i am o this site because i have a dream of having straight teeth. my parents never got me any braces because they considered it a vanity and not a neccessity. i sucked my thumb for years and now i have an overbite and major crowding in my front teeth. it is so embarrassing to not be able to smile in pictures. i hate the way i take pictures. i never smile with my mouth open and i usually almost hate all of my pictures unless they are at the exact right angle and they dont show how bad my teeth are. i would love to be able to smile big and be proud of my teeth. i wish that i would have never sucked my thumb when i was little. i am definately paying for it now. a persons smile is usually the first thing that people notice. i am always referred to as the girl with the messed up teeth. my self esteem and confidence are extremely affected by this. it almost consumes me. every time i see a magazine cover or a picture of someone with beautiful straight teeth, i always turn my head and walk away with my head down. i would love so much to be able to be confident and beautiful and smile with my teeth showing. i am unable to afford braces because my fiance and i do not have dental insurance for ourselves. our children will fortunately be able to get braces through medicaid. thats one thing i am glad for because if anything, i dont want my kids to feel bad about themselves and their appearance later on in life because their parents refused to pay for braces, as in my case. we struggle financially because of the recession in general, but also my fiance is an auto body tech/painter. this means very hard manual labor for little pay. it also means that he doesnt have steady work. not everybody is getting their car painted these days with the economy like it is. so my wish is to be able to raise enough money to buy my braces. i am not picky. i dont mind if i have to get the metal braces because they are the cheapest. i dont need invisalign or anything. i think that it would be worth having a metal mouth for a few years to get o the end result of beautiful straight teeth. any donations big or small are appreciated.
