When Micah and I got engaged we decided to forego a traditional wedding and all the expenses and gifts that go along with it, for a mission trip in South Africa.  We truly beleive the best way to begin our life together is to give life to others.  We also beleive that seeing the situation first hand is the first step in changing it.

We've since made contact with a locally founded and run mission clinic in the small rural city of Bleomfontein, South Africa. This clinic was founded to treat locals living with HIV and/or AIDs, and to distrubute the Anti RetroViral drugs they require to stay alive.

These ARV drugs, until recently, were provided for free by the government. Since the cutoff of health benefits to those living with HIV/AIDs, hundreds of thousands, many of which are children orphaned by the disease, are dying needlessly. These ARV drugs cost $80 CAD per month per person.
$80 CAD a month is all it takes to keep a young boy or girl with HIV/AIDs alive and healthy.

We will be travelling to Bloemfontein to volunteer in their clinic with the intention of setting up network registry to connect those able to help with those in need upon our return. 
We recognize that many people have become weary of large charities working around the world, and particularly in Africa. With this registry, we will be able to connect individuals with individuals to cover that $80 per month needed to live.

The $2000 (+$50 site fee) we're asking for is to cover our basic bills at home while in Africa. Our rent, car payment and car insurance are our main concerns.

Unfortunately, due to sudden illness in two of our cats, vet bills have abruptly wiped out our personal savings.
Like many, we live paycheque to paycheque with little means for emergency.
