My name is Chad Rainey. I am a freshmen college student at Oakland Community College. I Graduated from Lake Orion High School and lost many friends to suicide in 2008 and 2009, one in particular during my senior year. I lost my best friend to suicide 4 days before our last day of school and 7 days before our commencement ceremonies. In the wake of this, I've done some thinking and brainstorming...

The meat of the letter....

I would like to pay tribute to those that my friends and I have lost due to suicide and depression. I would like to organize a medium to large concert in the metro-Detroit area and donate every penny of profit to "To Write Love On Her Arms".

My reason for a concert, of all things, is that people love and connect to music. For some reason it brings everyone together, it represents cool and offers a terrific way of exposing large numbers of people to a cause, thought, problem, emotion or message. I want to help spread the word of this epidemic in our youth. If I can tell one person that our lives are precious and that they do indeed have meaning and maybe even help save them from themselves and keep them with us, I would feel successful. If the message gets to a crowed of a thousand or more, chances of this message getting to the right people increase exponentially.

I am willing to speak with or meet with and work with anyone on putting this together. If I can get someone to stand behind me, we could use our efforts to get what is needed from venues to bands. My first step and thoughts were to team with an established cause so that others will listen to us.
