I decided to give up flying last year to reduce my carbon footprint and since then we have been indulging in "staycations" which would be great except the weather for the last two summers here has been rubbish (even by English standards). It is hard to maintain a commitment to ending global warming when you can't leave the house without a coat and the only view of the beach is through the hood of your anorak! I'm really missing the poolside drinks and palm fringed beaches and so have decided my dream is to install a hot tub on my currently overgrown patio. We never use this bit of the garden but it has fabulous views and I can envision lying in a hot tub with a glass of wine enjoying the garden whatever the weather. Although hot tubs are not exactly environmentally friendly, I reckon by the time we have the money to install it we will also have our wind turbine so it will be an eco-friendly hot tub. We have loads of friends and family staying with us and I'm sure with a hot tub there will be even more so I hope all you lovely people will help me to realise my dream and keep my carbon footprint under control without too much sacrifice.
